How to use the site


This website will:

 

  • Provide you with a tool to link courses together  
  • Show how you can progress up through the educational levels  
  • Show what jobs/careers you can go into at each level  
  • Search for courses in the East Midlands  
  • Search for colleges, universities and training providers in the East Midlands  
  • Search for jobs  
  • Link to other useful sites

Creating Your Progression Map

 
From the homepage (image 1), click on the ‘Learners 14-19’, ‘Adult Learners 19+’ ‘Employer’ or ‘Practitioner’ button depending upon which category you fall into. This will take you to your section of the site.

Your sub-home page will ask you what you want to do on the site.  The options cover the aims of the site mentioned above. Click onto ‘progression maps’. This will take you to a search criteria page.

Here (image 2) you enter what level you are already at. If you are unsure leave this blank.  Enter where you would like to study and what subject you are interested in. Future developments to this page will also allow you to search by interests and by jobs. Click ‘Get Results’.

 

You are now in the progression maps page (image 3). This page shows the different routes you can take.

Click on ‘careers’ at the right hand side of the progression map to show you a list of careers at that level in your chosen subject area.

 

Click on ‘level’ to show a description of that level.  This will be useful if you are unsure which level you are already at and will help with future searches.

 

Click on any of the other buttons within the progression map to show a list of courses under the work based learning, vocationally related or general academic options. These courses will have different awards and learning types depending on what part of the map you are on. The courses shown will also be in your chosen subject area and chosen location.

Click on any of the courses in the list and details of the course, along with a link to the college, university or training provider website, will be shown (image 4). We recommend you contact the college, university or training provider for further information of the course you are interested in, there may be a slight change of detail.


Other Site Features
 

The site enables you to register at any time; once you are registered you will be able to save your results.


You can also search for courses, search for course providers in your local area and search for careers.
