Jargon buster

There's a whole new world of terminology, abbreviations and jargon that's specific to each individual sector. So we've put together this glossary to define as many of the terms that you're likely to come across as possible.

NCFE - A national awarding body. They award qualifications in: health, public services and care; retail and commercial enterprise; leisure, travel and tourism; arts, media and publishing; education and training; preparation for life and work
NEBOSH - The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health. Awards NEBOSH certificates and NEBOSH Diplomas.
NOCN - National Open College Network, an accreditation service for adult learners.
NVQs - National Vocational Qualifications are work based qualifications achieved through assessment and learning. They can be taken by full time employees or college/school students with a work placement or part time job. There are 5 levels of NVQs they have no set time limit for completion (within reason) and have no special entry requirements.
